1. Who is responsible for your data

Straits Packaging Ltd (Company No. 17174083, registered office 82a James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE) is the data controller for personal data collected through www.straitspackaging.co.uk and in the course of trading with us. Contact: info@straitspackaging.co.uk or 0161 262 0870.

2. What we collect

• Account details: name, business name and type, email, phone, address, postcode, password (stored only as a bcrypt hash), and optionally your VAT number and estimated monthly packaging spend.
• Order details: products ordered, delivery addresses, delivery notes, invoices and payment status.
• Technical data: a session cookie, IP address and sign-in attempt records used for security and rate limiting.
• Correspondence: emails, enquiry forms and call notes.

3. Why we process it (lawful bases)

• Contract: to run your trade account, take and fulfil orders, arrange delivery and invoice you.
• Legitimate interests: to secure the website (rate-limiting sign-ins, CSRF protection), assess credit risk, and to contact business customers about similar goods. You can opt out of marketing at any time.
• Legal obligation: to keep accounting and tax records.
• Consent: for the optional email updates you tick at registration. Withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link or by emailing us.

4. Who we share it with

Delivery carriers (name, address, phone for the delivery), our hosting and email providers, accountants and, where credit terms are requested, credit reference agencies and the trade referees you nominate. We do not sell personal data.

5. How long we keep it

Account data is kept while your account is active and for 2 years after the last order. Invoices and order records are kept for 6 years after the end of the financial year they relate to, as required for tax. Sign-in attempt logs are kept for 90 days.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, erase, restrict or object to our processing of your personal data, and to data portability, subject to legal retention duties. To exercise any right, email info@straitspackaging.co.uk. We respond within one month.

8. Complaints

If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, contact us first and we will try to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
